Atlanta rapper Young Nudy returns with ‘John Wayne’, a collaboration with super-producer Metro Boomin and the first taste of music from his anticipated next project.
Nudy has developed a rabid cult following off the back of a string of mixtapes that showcase his idiosyncratic style, including the 2019 Pi’erre Bourne collaboration ‘Sli’merre’ and last year’s ‘Gumbo’. The latter saw Nudy embracing a new musical direction informed by late-2000’s hip-hop for a food-inspired project that featured his biggest hit to date ‘Peaches and Eggplants’, which featured his cousin 21 Savage (as well as a remix with Sexyy Red and Latto).
In the cinematic video for ‘John Wayne’ – co-directed by INIGHTLYFE and Nudy – we join the Nudy and Metro in the Bouldercrest Bar a sepia-drenched saloon, as the pair pay homage to the titular Hollywood icon known for his 70s Western roles. Unfortunately, as is often the case in the wild, wild west, Nudy and his band of outlaws end up finding themselves caught up in a showdown.
The addictive collaboration marks a welcome return for Nudy, as well as continuing an impressive run for Metro Boomin this year – and we anticipate more news of a follow up to ‘Gumbo’ soon.
