Mumbai, July 26 – In a relief for parents and students, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that all schools and colleges in the city will operate normally on Friday despite heavy rainfall in recent days. The decision comes after the weather in Mumbai stabilized.
However, the situation remains grim in other parts of Maharashtra. The Raigad district has ordered the closure of schools and colleges due to an impending heavy rainfall alert. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Raigad and Ratnagiri districts, and an orange alert for Mumbai and Satara.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has taken stock of the situation in the state and assured full support to Raigad district administration in rescue and relief efforts.
The IMD has warned of isolated extremely heavy rainfall over ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra and Konkan-Goa region in the coming days.
