DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) – A Dothan woman faces insurance fraud charges after a lengthy investigation that expanded to state agents.
Records show grand jurors indicted Allison Dawn Benton Davis, 53, who turned herself in at the Houston County Jail on Wednesday.
The multi-count indictment shows that she defrauded insurance companies, a community college and others in the alleged scheme out of about $77,000.
Alabama Department of Insurance, which headed the investigation, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Records show Davis’s indictment on June 13, about six weeks before her arrest.
Law enforcement sources say the investigation began several months—possibly two years—ago after they received complaints of missing funds.
Davis, no longer with Aviation Air agency, is awaiting trial after posting $150,000.
