Toronto Police are alerting the public of recent distraction-type attempted thefts.

Police said that on July 20 at 1:30 p.m., an elderly victim was in his driveway in the Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave. area when he was approached by a man and a woman asking for directions.
As the victim was giving directions, the woman allegedly tried to take items from his pockets.

When the couple didn’t get anything, they left and approached another elderly neighbour.
The man is 35 to 43 years old and about 5-foot-10 with a medium build, black hair and beard and tattoos on his forearms, shoulders and neck area. He was wearing a white T-shirt and pants.
The woman is in her 30s with a heavy build and was wearing a floral gown. She has tattoos on her arms.

GUN SEIZED DURING TRAFFIC STOP, YOUTH CHARGED
Peel Regional Police allegedly seized a loaded firearm from a youth after a traffic stop in Brampton.
On Saturday at 10:26 a.m., police performed a traffic stop in the North Park Dr.-Mackay St. area and allegedly found a loaded .45-calibre Smith and Wesson handgun during a search of the vehicle.
A 17-year-old from Brampton was charged with being an occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was firearm, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm and knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.
