Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s starrer Deadpool & Wolverine continues its dream run at the Indian Box office. The film minted Rs 66 crore in the first weekend, and since then it has been holding steady. The collection dropped on Monday to mint just Rs 6.75 crore, followed by 6.25 crore on Tuesday, as per early estimates by Sacnilk, thus taking the total collection of the film to Rs 78.95 crore, with all possibility of crossing Rs 100 crore mark by the weekend.
The film has been released in four languages, English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, with the English version leading from the front with Hindi being a close second. The film will be facing little competition from this week’s release, like Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, but its main competition will kick in during Independence Day weekend with Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2, John Abraham and Sharvari’s Vedaa and Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein releasing on the same day.
In the US, the film has gone on to become the sixth biggest opening weekend of all times, beating Jurassic World and The Avengers. In fact, its Monday numbers were also US $ 24.5 million, making it the biggest Monday collection for an R- rated film. The film was also very close to Avengers: Infinity Wars Monday collection of US $ 24.7 million, and is within the striking distance of half a billion dollar mark in the first week itself. Trade Experts also feel that US $ 800 is a possibility by the end of the second weekend.
