A huge explosion and subsequent fire at German chemical company BASF SE’s massive Ludwigshafen plant on July 29, injured 18 people, Barron’s reported. The company believes that the explosion was triggered by the emission of an organic solvent, but the cause of the incident is yet to be determined.
