The Essex Region Conservation Authority issued a warning Friday after flooding began in parts of Essex County, with more heavy rainfall likely on the way.
ERCA said the flood warning would remain in effect until at least 12 p.m. Saturday.
The conservation authority said the Municipality of Lakeshore was hit the hardest during heavy rains throughout the day on Friday.

“The geographic area east of the Belle River is the most impacted area with drains and creeks flowing full with many spilling into adjacent lands,” the agency said around 3 p.m. Friday.
“Forecasts are still predicting significant additional rainfall. With the now saturated ground conditions, any additional rainfall will exacerbate the current issues.”
ERCA initially issued a flood watch due to the forecasted rain, but upgraded it to a flood warning Friday afternoon. The agency issues a flood watch when flooding is possible in specific watercourses or municipalities. A flood warning means it is imminent or already occurring.
The previously issued flood watch remains in effect for all other areas not currently experiencing flooding. It will expire at the same time as the flood warning. ERCA urged residents Friday to stay safe and monitor local weather forecasts.
“People are encouraged to take extra caution and avoid areas where flooding is occurring as well as rivers, streams, and shoreline areas during significant rainfall and wind events,” the conservation authority said.
“The combination of slippery banks and fast-moving water can be dangerous. Standing water can also present its own unseen hazards.
“Children, pets, and livestock should be kept away from flowing or standing water.”
