Hot weather and an extra day to enjoy it create a great opportunity to get out to some arts events and explore the city with family and friends.
1 — Experience a variety of arts at Fringe
The annual Saskatoon Fringe Festival features 21 theatrical productions in a variety of genres from new and experienced artists. A celebration of creativity, the festival also includes outdoor entertainment with street buskers, carnival games, an artisan market and food vendors. Special events include a Thelma Pepper Art Walk Saturday at 2 p.m., a Fringe Fun Run Sunday at 9 a.m. and Broadway Days Saturday to Monday. 2 — View some classic cars
Friday Nights Classic is a classic car show presented weekly throughout the summer season. Local classic car enthusiasts are encouraged to bring their vehicles to display for the public to view in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Everyone is welcome to engage with car owners at the event. The show runs Fridays through September, weather permitting, in the Market Mall parking lot from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Learn more on Facebook.
3 — Create art with Zoom
PAVED Arts presents Zoom Studio Workshop, hosted by artists in residence Johanna Householder and Judith Price. Learn to use Zoom as a creative medium, exploring performances, projection, digital backgrounds, glitches and the play between digital and physical. 4 — Learn the Prairie history of rhubarb
The Marr Residence hosts All About Rhubarb, an event exploring the plant’s Prairie history and continued popularity. Known as the “pie plant,” rhubarb was a staple on the Prairies in pioneer days, serving as a locally available fruit substitute in a lot of dishes when other fruits weren’t easily available. The event is held in the historic house on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn more at themarr.ca.

5 — Explore Wanuskewin
Wanuskewin Heritage Park is open daily through the long weekend. The park offers guided programming or self-guided options in its interpretive centre and on the nature trails. Enjoy cultural programming, live dance or music presentations, guided trail tours and bison walks, or explore the exhibits, art galleries and trails on your own. Events run Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Monday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Learn more at wanuskewin.com/experience.
