U.K.’s Serious Fraud Office has charged Alex Beard, former head of oil at Switzerland-based commodity trading and mining firm Glencore plc, with bribery offences relating to the firm’s operations in Africa, Reuters reported. Mr. Beard faces charges over two alleged conspiracies to make corrupt payments to government officials as well as officials of state-owned oil firms in Nigeria between 2010 and 2014, and in Cameroon between 2007 and 2014.
