The license of a Miami Beach massage therapist was suspended this week, three months after his arrest on a rape charge.
West Miami-Dade resident Erick Barrios, 51, was released after posting $10,000 bond on April 9, but it was Tuesday when the emergency suspension order (ESO) came down from the state surgeon general.
What follows is the ESO’s synopsis of what a customer at South Beach’s Sun Curves Bronze, 1000 West Ave., says occurred on April 4.
The customer says she undressed to her lower underwear before the massage. Barrios, who has been licensed since June 2017, allegedly pulled that underwear down to the woman’s ankles and touched her inappropriately.
The woman “got off the table, quickly put her shirt and pants on, grabbed her stuff, and went out into the lobby barefoot,” the ESO said. She “told the person working at the front desk that she had been touched inappropriately and motioned to her vaginal area.”
Barrios was arrested on April 8 on a charge of sexual battery.
