- Final Outpost, the minimalist city-builder survival game, is getting a PC release
- The Definitive Edition coincides with the 1.6 update for iOS and Android
- Enjoy an overhauled UI and new lore cutscenes!
Minimalist survival city-builder Final Outpost is making the jump to PC, as developers Exabyte Games are set to release Final Outpost: Definitive Edition on Steam. The game was previously launched for iOS and Android back in 2020, and since then has garnered hundreds of thousands of downloads.
A minimalist, top-down city-builder and strategy game, like many of these titles it focused on surviving a zombie apocalypse. Unlike them, however, there’s a far stronger emphasis on resource and personnel management, with plenty of proper strategic planning to ensure that your walled settlement survives nightly assaults by the undead.
The announcement of this upcoming PC release coincides with their 1.6 update, which introduces a UI overhaul to the game, alongside the first lore-based cutscene. This means that whether you’re on mobile or PC, this new update promises to offer a definitive experience ahead of the new release.
The final, final outpost (finally)
While some may scoff at the graphics of Final Outpost, having seen the gameplay we’re definitely seeing the appeal. At a time when zombies seem to be so overdone and increasingly, gruesomely realistic, it’s fun to see a game that instead reduces them to simple dots, but keeps the existential terror of this endless horde.
