- Tower of God: New World is coming to two new platforms, but maybe not ones you might expect
- Players in Japan can now hop into Tower of God via their LINE Messenger app
- Meanwhile US players can get a taste of the streaming tech by trying it out on nowCafe
Tower of God: New World, Netmarble’s hit collectible RPG, is coming to two brand-new platforms. But they might not be ones you’re familiar with. The first is now.gg, a game streaming platform available in the US. And the other is the LINE Messenger service in Japan?
That’s right, technically both of these are coming to the developer now.gg’s services. However, in Japan players will be able to hop into Tower of God directly through the super-popular messenger app. US players meanwhile will have to play directly via nowCafe, the developer’s own games streaming platform.
It’s definitely an unusual new release, but it could be a sign of both how popular Tower of God is behind the scenes, and the unusual nature of some of Netmarble’s partnerships. But for certain players, this means they’ll be able to have a go at Tower of God without any pesky downloads necessary!
A new way of playing?
Of course, this isn’t unusual, anyone who’s been pestered by Facebook Messenger to play mini-games with your friends can tell you that. But it’s not often you see a game as big as Tower of God: New World playable via streaming on a messenger app. Netmarble seems to think this will help them reach a whole new audience, and we’re interested to see if that’s the case.
While it may solely be in Japan for now, US players can get an idea of how it works via now.gg’s nowCafe service.
