- The Yaba Sanshiro 2 is the latest game emulator to release on iOS
- It emulates the fan-favourite Sega Saturn console
- You can also find it on the Google Play Store
After the rules around emulators changed, iOS has seen a massive influx of them for a variety of top consoles. And one of the latest of these is the Yaba Sanshiro 2, for the often underappreciated but still important, fan-favourite console the Sega Saturn.
The Saturn was an advanced system released in 1992, and although it marked the first point where Sega began to slip behind Nintendo after the initial success of the Master System and MegaDrive (Genesis in America), it’s still well-regarded by fans. The Yaba Sanshiro 2 emulator lets you play games made for the system and emulate them with modern quality-of-life features.
It comes with both free and paid versions, although as with other emulators on both Google Play and the iOS App Store, it doesn’t come with any ROMs installed.
Sega-ta, or sega-nah?
While we haven’t had the chance to get hands-on with the Yaba Sanshiro 2 emulator yet, we’ve seen somewhat mixed reviews online. The main issue seems to be that, if you’re grappling with the free version you’ll be missing out on a lot of core features, and some lacklustre stability. Still, these aren’t exactly problems unique to the Sanshiro 2 emulator.
You can give it a go right now, either on Google Play or its most recent release on the iOS App Store.
