- Last Spartan: Glory over Madness is one-to-watch for us
- It mixes Greek and Lovecraftian mythos in a new roguelike deck builder
- But while we have a confirmed PC and console release, we’re yet to get solid news for it coming to mobile
If there’s any easy way to create an innovative new plot for a game, it’s to smash two things together. Plants vs Zombies, for example, or in this case, Spartans vs horrid gibbering creatures from beyond. Yes, in Last Spartan: Glory over Madness, it’s everyone’s favourite musclebound hoplites against cosmic horrors from beyond as ancient Greece collides with Lovecraft.
A new entry in the ever-growing genre of the deck-building roguelike, Last Spartan is set in a corrupted version of ancient Greece where familiar mythological elements have been twisted by the arrival of Lovecraftian creatures from beyond. You’ll play as the titular Last Spartan, forging alliances with the remnants of the Greek pantheon as you fight not just for your survival, but to keep your very sanity.
We managed to get hands-on with Last Spartan at Pocket Gamer Connects London this January, which is how we’re aware that it’s coming to mobile. But, unfortunately, we don’t have full information on a release date or platforms at this point. However, Last Spartan will be hitting PC at the end of 2024, and consoles at the start of 2025.
Madness on mobile
It’s a shame we don’t yet have more to share about Last Spartan, but as far as we’re concerned this is definitely one to watch. With a grim and sanity-bending setting, alongside the (ironically) familiar sight of gibbering tentacle-mouthed apparitions from the stars, Last Spartan offers an intriguing mishmash of two clashing concepts of gods and monsters.
