Historical women of Regina cemetery tour
Hosted by Regina Cemetery Tours, residents can enjoy a tour highlighting the famous women of Regina, “many who have been forgotten by history.” Tours run throughout August, including Aug. 9 at 7 p.m., and can be booked at reginacemeterytours.ca/book-the-tour. Tickets are $15 and the tour is led by local history enthusiast Kenton de Jong.
“I’ve always really liked cemeteries and the stories that they have,” de Jong said in a 2020 interview. “Those aren’t stories you’ll find in a museum or an art gallery. You can only find them when you visit those individual graves to learn about those individual people.”
BMX races
Hosted by 13th Ave BMX Club, the Sask Cup Provincial Race Series returns to Regina on Aug. 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The age of the competitors ranges from five to over 50 and approximately 90 to 125 races are expected to take place. Races begin at 11 a.m.
“Presently, we estimate that there are over 250 riders in Saskatchewan, based in Regina, Saskatoon, and Warman,” stated a news release from the club. “These riders are deeply passionate about the sport as it enables them to engage in friendly competition with other riders in the province.”
