ANOTHER DAY IN LIBERAL LAND

Re: We need firefighters, not more slush funds, editorial, Aug. 1
The Liberal government’s agency, Sustainable Development Technology Canada, is a giant slush fund, according to the Aug. 1 editorial. And auditor general Karen Hogan states that the agency violated its conflict of interest policies 90 times? Ninety times!
Also, she said it awarded $59 million to 10 projects that were not eligible and overstated the environmental benefits of its projects.
Just another day in Liberal land, I guess; scandal after scandal, so much so that after a while your eyes glaze over reading about them all.
I’ve saved enough to fill a book, very likely more than enough that the letters section wouldn’t print it as it would be too long.

We need an election now before even more boondoggles are allowed to happen.

BEYOND BELIEF
Re: We need firefighters, not more slush funds, editorial, Aug. 1
There is simply no end to the ways that our Liberal government has failed Canadians.
It is beyond belief to learn that 10 environmental projects that were ineligible received $59 million in green slush funds. This news, combined with the carbon tax boondoggle, should have Canadians repeating the line from the movie Network, “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore.”
This incompetent government has got to go.

SPEED READING
So, there’s a speed camera near St. Joseph’s school on Greenbank Road. The speed limit is 60 km/h. A sign indicates that, from September to June, Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., the speed limit is 40 km/h. (That’s a lot of reading.)

I can count on one hand the number of times I drove over 40 km/h in July. We’re now into August, so maybe people will pick up the pace, but I’m doubtful.
As I see it, the only solution is to cover the 40 km/h sign.

SINGH IS A ‘SAVIOUR’
Re: YOU SAID IT: Singh saves Canadian democracy, letter to the editor, online, Aug. 2
I couldn’t agree more. By supporting the inept federal Liberals, Jagmeet Singh has decimated any slim chance his NDP party had of becoming the official opposition after the next election. On a bright note, I suppose he’s saved the Conservatives a substantial amount of money on political attack ads.
