An 86-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a motor vehicle in uptown Leamington during the daytime Thursday.
Officers with the Leamington detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police and Essex Windsor Emergency Medical Service personnel responded at approximately noon to a report of a collision on Erie Street South at Mill Street.
Police said a pedestrian was struck on the roadway by a motor vehicle. The woman was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.
An OPP traffic incident management enforcement team was called in to assist in investigating the collision.
No further information was released Friday about the vehicle involved in the collision or any other injuries or whether any charges were being considered.
The investigation is ongoing and police are asking the public for assistance.
