The search continues for a Leamington swimmer who was reported missing in Lake Erie on Saturday evening.
The OPP Essex County Detachment said in a Sunday news release that officers received a call about a missing swimmer around 7:53 p.m. on Saturday.
According to OPP officers, the swimmer was reported missing near Leamington Pier, located at the end of Erie Street South in the Municipality of Leamington. The docks were the site of another drowning incident this season in June.

According to Sunday’s news release, two individuals had entered the water, but only one managed to return to shore.
Officials say that a 46-year-old man is still reported as missing.
Members of Leamington OPP, alongside the Canadian Coast Guard and Leamington Fire Services, were on the scene on Saturday to help with the search.
The OPP advised individuals to avoid the search area on Saturday due to the “potential of adverse weather and water conditions and a concern for public safety.”
Search efforts resumed for a second day on Sunday, led by members of the marine unit of the OPP Essex Detachment and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit.
Police were still urging the public to avoid the search area on Sunday.
The incident marks the fourth drowning this season in Windsor-Essex County — and the second at the Leamington docks.
On June 25, following a two-day search, the OPP marine unit recovered the body of a 32-year-old man, last seen near Leamington Pier, who had failed to resurface after a struggle in the water.
On May 23, two men went missing in the water at Windsor’s Sandpoint Beach — an area known for several drowning incidents throughout the years. Their bodies were recovered days later.
Police say updates will be shared as soon as more information becomes available.
