It’s not an entirely new ride, but it’s a pretty big step either way: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is getting its first major addition since the launch of Rise of the Resistance in 2019 in the form of a brand new Mandalorian mission for its other major ride.
Announced at D23 tonight by Dave Filoni himself, Lucasfilm and Epic–who collaborated with the latter’s Unreal Engine to develop the current Smuggler’s Run attraction video–are working to develop a new mission for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run inspired by The Mandalorian.
No details about the mission were revealed, but concept art show during the con showed riders in the Millennium Falcon flying alongside Din Djarin, jetpacking through the sky with Grogu in his arms, as the Falcon shoots down TIE Fighters. “The intersection of storytelling and innovation has always been central to Lucasfilm and we’re excited to see where this collaboration will take us next,” Filoni said of Disney’s $1.5 billion stake in Epic. “Just imagine it: you’ll be able to fly alongside Mando and Grogu on thrilling, and dangerous, missions.”
The Mandalorian mission for Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run is expected to arrive in Galaxy’s Edge in both Disneyland and Disney World some time in 2026, to coincide with the release of The Mandalorian & Grogu movie.
