Analysts at DBRS Morningstar expects the total insured losses from the recent U.K. riots to have a marginal impact on the country’s insurance industry, estimating the figure to remain below £250 million ($320 million), Reinsurance News reported. DBRS noted that claims under £1 million per property can be covered by local police authorities under the U.K. Riot Compensation Act 2016. However, the unrest could put pressure on the profitability of certain commercial insurers and may raise concerns for global providers of strike, riot, and civil commotion insurance.
