A worker’s death is under provincial investigation following an industrial accident in Windsor this week.
In an email to the Star, the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development confirmed it’s investigating a Monday incident at Integrity HD, which is located on Devon Drive.
“A worker was fatally injured by a piece of machinery,” said ministry spokesperson Manuel Alas-Sevillano.

“A MLITSD inspector has been assigned. The investigation is ongoing.”
Privacy legislation prevents the ministry from sharing any personal information, such as the worker’s age or medical information.
“Our condolences go out to the family and colleagues of the worker,” Alas-Sevillano said.
Representatives from Integrity HD, a tool and machinery manufacturing company, declined to comment on Tuesday.
Two labour ministry vehicles were parked outside the facility Tuesday morning.
Windsor police spokesperson Const. Andie Suthers confirmed that police also attended the scene. Because the incident is being investigated by the ministry, “we cannot provide comment,” she told the Star in a written statement.

In workplaces that fall under the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), employers must immediately report any critical injury or fatality to the ministry. Inspectors assigned to investigate can identify hazards and issue orders to prevent future incidents, a ministry webpage said.
If an inspector identifies a violation of the OHSA related to a worker fatality or injury, the inspector may recommend that charges be laid.
Ministry inspectors also visit workplaces in response to complaints and work refusals.
