A lonely, clearly grumpy fishercat you meet asks for a favor in Cat Quest 3: Track down the Fursome Four, and you’ll earn his treasure. As a pirate, there’s nothing more enticing than than T-word. Here’s how to find the Fursome Four fish locations and complete the quest.
The Grumpy Fishercat (yes, that’s what he’s called in the game) can be found at the northern tip of Straits Island, just north of Pawt Purvanna. Settle in, folks. The puns don’t end here. After destroying the two pi-rat ships harassing him, chat him up to start The Furlorn Fishercat quest.
Your first task is to capture a nearby Blue Catfish. It’s easy enough: Hop into the water and herd it to the nearby net. Once that’s complete, the Fishercat tells you of the Fursome Four, a group of legendary fish hiding somewhere in the world. His son once dreamed of nabbing their scaley hides, but now it falls to you. Capture them all and get a reward.
Tips:
- There are only four fish to find, but two are located in high-level areas
- For most of the fish, you can jump into the water and get behind them to herd them to a net
- You can also use your ship, but you may move too quickly
- Try not to get ahead of the fish, or they’ll turn around
Fursome Four fish location #1 – Rock Catfish
The closest Fursome Four fish in Cat Quest 3 is the Rock Catfish, southeast of the Grumpy Fishercat on the western coast of the main Purvanna island. Head toward The Straights, the strip of water between Purvanna and Straits Island.
Hop into the water and herd the Rock Catfish past the spike traps. The fish can take damage, but the spikes will hurt a lot if you touch them.
Fursome Four fish location #2 – Lover Catfish
The Lover Catfish is the next of the Fursome Four that’s easiest and fastest to find. It’s also the most unusual of the Fursome Four, which I’ll get into soon.
Head east from Pawt Purvanna until you reach a horseshoe-shaped island near the edge of the map.
Take out the ships on the north side of the island, and then use your cannons to destroy the gate. The Lover Catfish, unlike the other Fursome Four fish, will follow you. Guide it to the net on the other side of the island to capture it.
Fursome Four fish location #3 – Sunset Catfish
To the north of Purvanna are the Sunset Islands, the location of the third Fursome Four target: The Sunset Catfish. The fish is on the left island, a maze of land with a pixelated castle in the center. Be warned that the Sunset Islands are home to level 50 enemies, so you may want to wait until you’re ready to track down the fish.
The Sunset Fish is the fastest of the four, so you’ll need to be quick in your floaty to herd it around the western path and into the net. As a tip, you may want to get out of the water and sprint across the land if you’re falling behind.
Fursome Four fish location #4 – Ghost Catfish
The final target of the Fursome Four is the most difficult to catch. You will find the Ghost Catfish at Furggy Island on the southwest corner of the map. This is a level 60 area, so make sure you’re ready.
The Ghost Catfish is at the center of the land spiral. Once you start herding it, level 60 undead pi-rats will spawn and begin firing magic orbs in your direction. The orbs are slow, so you should be able to dodge them without too much effort. They do hurt, though. Move the Ghost Catfish around the spiral until you reach the net.
Fursome Four quest reward
Return to the Grumpy Fishercat and present your catches. After telling you about his son, he’ll give you a chest with The Son’s Rod along with some gold and experience points. The rifle fires bait ammo that does extra damage to water-based enemies.
