Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have called off their engagement and split after seven years, it has been claimed.
The Coldplay frontman, 47, was first linked to the Fifty Shades of Grey actress, 34, in 2017, but they have kept much of their romance under wraps ever since.
However, just weeks after Madame Web lead was spotted in the crowd at his recent Glastonbury performance, it was reported that they have gone their separate ways.
According to reports, the pair have decided to split for good after realizing that their romance ‘cannot be sustained’ long-term.
‘Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work,’ an insider claimed.
‘They’ll always have love for each other but they’ve both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term.
‘They’re both busy people, Chris has been in Europe with Coldplay and they both have personal priorities, passions and work commitments which don’t naturally intertwine with each other.’
‘They wanted it to work but it just hasn’t, and they’ve now accepted it is best to move on,’ they added to DailyMail.com.
The outlet also claimed that Dakota was recently pictured without her engagement ring, while walking her dog in Malibu.
In contrast, Chris, who was previously married to Gwyneth Paltrow, is on the road with Coldplay – the group are currently on the European leg of their sold out Music of the Spheres world tour.
They performed in Munich on Thursday evening, and were joined by Shawn Mendes on stage for a stunning rendition of Fix You.
Neither have spoken publicly about the split claims.
Chris and Dakota were first linked in October 2017, after they were spotted on a date night in LA – the Daddio star was then seen in the crowd at the Yellow singer’s show the following month.
Although their relationship has remained private, they were pictured on holiday with Gwyneth and her husband Brad Falchuk, in the Hamptons in 2019, proving they were still going strong.
‘I love her,’ the Marvel icon – who shares two children with the musician – told Harper’s Bazaar of her relationship with Dakota in 2020. ‘I can see how it would seem weird because it’s sort of unconventional.
‘But I think, in this case, just having passed through it iteratively, I just adore her.’
The pair sparked engagement rumors in 2020, after the Hollywood star was seen wearing an emerald ring on that finger, but refused to confirm the reports at the time.
She lifted the lid slightly on their bond in a chat with Elle Magazine in 2021, enthusing: ‘We’ve been together for quite a while, and we go out sometimes, but we both work so much that it’s nice to be at home and be cozy and private.’
They were recently hit with split rumors in May when Chris gave a struggling fan a lift at Radio 1’s Big Weekend, who then rushed to Twitter to unpack her experience.
In an eyebrow-raising post, she said that they ‘had a nice chat’ during the journey, and claimed that he ‘is single’.
Dakota seemingly poured cold water on those claims at the time, when she was pictured taking in Coldplay’s headlining set at Glastonbury from the side of the stage in June.
‘They’ve had ups and downs, but now they’re definitely back on,’ an insider told People Magazine at the time, adding that they were ‘going strong’.
