- Age of Empires Mobile is slated to release on October 17th

- A new cinematic trailer also accompanies the announcement
Age of Empires Mobile, the upcoming spin-off of the hit real-time strategy series, will release globally on October 17th. The announcement also comes alongside a new cinematic trailer to mark the date. Age of Empires Mobile is being developed by TiMi Studios, the folks behind Call of Duty: Mobile and Pokémon Unite.
Age of Empires should be a familiar name to many, but for those not in the know, the series is iconic in the world of real-time strategy. Pitting a variety of famous historical cultures against each other in battle, gameplay revolves around upgrading your home base and training up a capable army to demolish your opponent.
Gameplay showcases have been a bit thin on the ground when it comes to Age of Empires Mobile. However, we can likely expect many similarities to the original game, what with it helping define the RTS genre. Although aspects like base building will probably be tied to the account, rather than unique to each battle you play in.
Age of mobile?
I’d definitely say that it’s fair many long-time Age of Empires fans are feeling a bit of trepidation. While many mobile games do take inspiration from the series, few are able to carry across the spirit of the design. So, for many, they’ll be watching closely to see what kind of in-app purchases or other FTP concessions have been made when Age of Empires Mobile releases in October.
