- CrisisX is developer Hero Games’ newest project
- It looks to be an open-world survival game of some sort
- Set in the 1990s, you play as a protagonist trying to survive in a world of mutated monsters
Hero Games, a studio fans will best recognise for their work with Wuthering Waves developer Kuro Games, has announced their own latest project, CrisisX. While details are a bit thin on the ground, we do have a cinematic trailer, some gameplay and an announcement that Gamescom 2024 attendees can get hands-on at the show!
Described as being set in a small US town during the 1990s, when a scientific expedition goes awry, resulting in a horrible infection turning people and wildlife into grotesque monsters. To survive in this world, you’ll need to guide your hero to make alliances with other survivors and discover their own reasons and motivations to survive.
So, yeah, basically what you’ve seen before in every kind of post-apocalyptic and/or zombie survival game, although I did note some differences with the throwback setting. Gameplay from a recent Xbox reveal trailer does look a little rough, but no more so than you would expect from other games of this scope in early development.
What to expect?
Although I’m not expecting Red Dead Redemption 2 levels of immersion or anything, I’m hoping that when CrisisX does hit full release it’ll come with something a bit bigger and bolder than the gameplay trailer, and closer to the teaser above, to really stand out. So if you’re attending Gamescom 2024, take a look at CrisisX in the Hero Games booth, Hall 10.1.
