- Dungeons of Dreadrock has taken home the top prize for mobile marvels at Devcom’s Indie Awards
- It beat out runner-ups Potion Punch Rivals and the Horticulturists
- Devcom and Gamescom both see the industry and fans come together in back-to-back expos
It’s the start of a new week, and while for most of us that means getting back to work, for a lot of game developers it also means the start of the most important seven days in their calendar this year. Devcom and Gamescom bring together the industry and fans in a back-to-back conference of business and showcase.
And one of the events preceding the doors opening for Gamescom has been some of the industry’s award ceremonies. At the Devcom Indie Awards, mobile also won big, with Dungeons of Dreadrock 2 – The Dead King’s Secret taking home the top spot for the Mobile Marvels category. The pixel art puzzle adventure beat out runner-ups Potion Punch Rivals and The Horticulturists to take the top spot.
While it may not be as glitzy as something like the game awards, it’s still vindication for you, the reader. The original Dungeons of Dreadrock grabbed a nomination for our People’s Choice award back in 2023, and with the new trailer for Dungeons of Dreadrock 2 – The Dead King’s Secret being revealed at Gamescom too, it seems the series is going from strength to strength.

Of course, this is all stuff happening behind the scenes as peers recognise peers. But I’m most intrigued to see what’s going to happen with upcoming hero shooter Marvel Rivals which is getting showcased at the main consumer exposition. But if you’re more intrigued by mobile, I’d keep my eye out too, as Squid Game: Unleashed, the mobile multiplayer title based on the hit K-drama series, will finally get a full unveiling.
