- Maid of Sker is making the jump to mobile
- It’s a stealth-based survival horror game based on Welsh folklore
- The game will be free to try, releasing September 10th
Wales Interactive’s Welsh-set horror game Maid of Sker will be making the jump to mobile. Slated to release on September 10th, you’ll soon be able to play the spooky horror game on iOS or Android, with a try before you buy release.
Maid of Sker is inspired by old Victorian literature and Welsh folklore, following protagonist Thomas Evans as he follows the usual horror game trope of being roped into a misadventure at the behest of Elisabeth Williams, an inhabitant of Sker Island.
Think of something like Amnesia: The Dark Descent and you’re on the right track, as you try to evade mysterious, monstrous enemies while trying to uncover the secret of what’s really happening on Sker. Utilise stealth, trickery and the occasional useful gadget to avoid ending up as a permanent resident of the island.
Maid in Wales
Maid of Sker is unique in that it takes place in, and is inspired by, Wales; where the developer is based. It’s also a bit of a departure from Wales Interactive’s other releases, in that it’s not an FMV title but in fact fully 3D. I’m definitely intrigued to see if a mobile release helps Maid of Sker capture a whole new audience, and if another game in the vein of Amnesia sounds like your cup of tea, be sure to check it out when it releases on September 10th.
