Despite looming storms forecasted on Saturday, sunny skies held out, welcoming large crowds to Ford City for the annual Dropped on Drouillard street festival.
Thousands wandered the 900 and 1000 blocks of Drouillard Road and enjoyed live bands, local artisans, food pop-ups, circus acts, skateboarders, and a classic car show.
With around 5,000 people estimated to have attended, Ford City Business Improvement Association executive director Kaitlyn Karns said the festival likely beat last year’s record turnout.

“We couldn’t have asked for a better day,” said Karns.
“The weather was flip-flopping back and forth all week, and it’s not an event you can easily reschedule. We heard very positive feedback and my heart is just so full.”
She said some changes were made to the layout this year to accommodate 20 additional vendors and a larger stage area.
“The music stage in the grass was a huge highlight,” said Karns.
“It created a music festival vibe where people could dance and sit in the grass with their food.”
Though the event continues to grow in popularity, Karns said the BIA strives to retain the festival’s underground roots, and most importantly, showcase the businesses on the street.

Karns said the live art installations, BMX riders, and punk and hard rock bands, “stay true to the festival and keep that grittiness.
“I think we have something unique and special that you can’t really experience elsewhere in the city,” she said.
“We’re very fortunate to have such a small, but mighty and passionate group of people that put this together.”
The next Dropped on Drouillard is scheduled for Aug. 15, 2025.
