Last week we got word that Amazon was partnering with Tim Miller and Blur Studios for a Love, Death + Robots-esque take on the world of video games with Secret Level, a new animated anthology series. Now, we have our first proper look: and a confirmation that the team is pulling on a wild swath of games to make stories with.
This afternoon during the opening night of Gamescom, Amazon dropped a new trailer for Secret Level, a 3DCG animated series that will hit Prime Video later this year. The 15-episode series will take inspiration from a different game for each tale, and while we’d previously heard rumors of just a handful of games that would be included, we now know the full picture. Take a look at the trailer below:
According to a press release, the 15 games covered in Secret Level include:
- Armored Core
- Concord
- Crossfire
- An unspecified Dungeons & Dragons title
- Exodus
- Honor of Kings
- Mega Man
- New World: Aeternum
- Pac-Man
- Multiple PlayStation titles, including God of War
- Sifu
- Spelunky
- The Outer Worlds
- Unreal Tournament
- The world of Warhammer 40,000, specifically Space Marine 2
That last entry—a collaboration that Games Workshop has confirmed specifically saw its own Warhammer Studios partner with Blur to create—makes sense, given Amazon’s ongoing deal with the tabletop miniatures maker to develop a TV series based on Warhammer 40,000. But the list in general speaks to a really intriguing variety of tones and styles Secret Level wants to play with. We’ll find out just how well it handles dipping between all these worlds when the 15-episode series debuts on Amazon Prime Video December 10.
