- Hearthstone season 8 is here, featuring a new mechanic, hero and more!
- Trinkets are passive power ups that you can grab on turns six and nine
- Meanwhile new hero Marin the Manager lets you grab an addition trinket one turn early
It’s been a little under a month since Hearthstone’s last major update with Perils in Paradise. And if you were worried they were going to ditch the tropical vacation theme, then don’t fret! Because Season 8 of Hearthstone is here, complete with new mechanics, cards and more. So let’s dig into what’s being added with this new season.
First off, the new mechanic: Trinkets. These passive power-ups can be bought with gold and used for the rest of the game. You’ll be offered them twice on turns six and nine, with four trinkets to choose from out of 116 possible options. Trinkets that are offered will be based on your hero, minions and even your Warband to ensure you’re always getting something worthwhile.
And the trinkets are also central to the new hero, Marin the Manager. If you want special offers, she’s got you covered, as Marin will let you get an extra trinket one turn earlier than usual! All this, and 27 new minions, 18 returning minions and 2 new tavern spells!

While I’m not a big Hearthstone player (I leave that to my Yugioh-obsessed pals) I can definitely appreciate the major new additions in this update. Although I’m sure there are some of you breathing a sigh of relief that game-changing mechanics like trinkets are only going to be a limited-time addition.

And if that’s somehow not enough, our review of The Darkside Detective gives this game a solid thumbs up! A retro point-and-click throwback, it mixes genuinely atmospheric gameplay with some seriously goofy, surreal humour.
