- Honor of Kings is getting major exposure as it features in upcoming anthology series Secret Level
- The Prime Video series features one-shot episodes covering a variety of game franchises
- Honor of Kings will join franchises like Warhammer 40,000, D&D and PlayStation’s library
If there was one surprise of the night at Gamescom 2024, it was the reveal of the upcoming Amazon Prime anthology series Secret Level. Essentially a collection of one-shot episodes set in the universes of major gaming franchises, it’ll feature heavy hitters like Warhammer 40,000, Armored Core, Dungeons & Dragons and even what looks to be a love letter to a variety of PlayStation titles.
But one name that stuck out to me was, drum roll, Honor of Kings! Yes, fresh off their global debut this year, Tencent seem to have snuck their way into this major anthology series. I don’t have any idea of what the game’s episode will be about (as is the story for most of those appearing) but it was still a bit of a surprise.
Now, I’d be remiss not to offer a bit of a defence to an inclusion many will roll their eyes at and murmur something about backroom deals. After all, The Outer Worlds of all things is seeing the light of day in its own episode, so it’s clear that Prime Video isn’t just featuring only the current big names.
Getting exposure
However, I would definitely hazard a guess that Tencent put their homegrown MOBA forward for inclusion. After all, League of Legends single-handedly made itself cool again with their hit animated series Arcane, so why not try to capture that lightning in a bottle again?
Either way, with the sky-high production values that look set to be sprinkled generously on this series, I’d assume this will indeed help familiarise an increasingly global audience with HoK.
