Who is this guy Geoff Stewart, who thinks governments can raise funds through increased income and sales taxes to cover the costs of our infrastructure deficit? When are these greedy politicians going to realize that the tax cupboard is bare and they need to start using taxes raised to cover these types of projects and stop giving themselves lavish raises and benefits.
They should start doing the job they were hired to do and stop wasting our money.

More than one show
I was surprised that there was no mention of Ron Barge’s dance band in your tribute article. His life encompassed much more than his Buck Shot endeavors!

Wrong way to measure success
Is it not strange that an economy must always be growing or else it is in decline? Every time we talk about healthy economies, it’s always ‘growth, growth, growth.’ Is a population in decline when it isn’t constantly expanding? Is Canada in decline when its landmass isn’t growing? Do we say that your organs are in decline when they stop growing? There is only one thing in nature which seeks growth at all costs: the cancer cell. Our economic system literally has the same ideology as cancer.

(Well this gives us a lot to think about.)
Spend some cash here
Instead of the government of Alberta spending tens of millions of dollars from tax revenues towards solar and wind operations for municipalities in this province, don’t you think it would be prudent to put some of those millions of dollars towards infrastructure repairs to our fast-eroding bridges, roads, water mains etc.

(The province would be first to remind you, that’s the city’s job.)
It will all work out
I have to say this. The city of Calgary will figure out the Green Line come hell or low water.

(We hope you’re right.)
