Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat is once more adding to its extensive roster of characters from across the DMC universe. This time it’s another version of everyone’s favourite motivated swordsman as Legend Seeker Vergil arrives in-game. But what marks this particular iteration of Vergil out from all the others? Well, let’s dig in.
If you’re not familiar with Vergil, Dante’s perennial rival and counterpart, we’re not going to go into details of his backstory here. However, long-time fans will note that Legend Seeker Vergil doesn’t just wield a katana, but also a greatsword, and uses this technique to inflict a number of debuffs onto enemies.
But what’s better than one Vergil? Two, obviously. As using his Doppelganger skill allows Legend Seeker Vergil to summon a clone to fight alongside him. Pair this up with the Deep Stinger attack to finish off your enemies, and this Vergil shapes up to be a great addition to the roster.
Devil may blubber
Devil May Cry: Peak of Combat may’ve been divisive amongst fans, as any formerly China-exclusive game tends to be (just look at Street Fighter: Duel), but we judged it as being pretty decent all things considered. Still, various iterations of characters aren’t necessarily the way to keep things fresh, so we’re hoping that somewhere down the line a more substantial update brings DMC: Peak of Combat back into the limelight.
