The 22nd annual Hospice Face to Face Campaign is underway.
The event, which raises money to ensure hospice clients can get to medical appointments or go on special outings, runs until Sept. 30.
Organizers said they are dedicating this year’s Face to Face campaign to the memory of Dr. Jamie Henderson, “one of our most dedicated and passionate hospice ambassadors.”

“For many years, Jamie has been one of the honourary co-chairs of our Face to Face Campaign, but his support of our hospice went far beyond this event, truly personifying the compassion, kindness, and gratitude for which our hospice is known. We are proud to celebrate his life, his dedication, and his contributions to our hospice and our community.”
Similar to previous years, canvassers can collect donations in person or online. Community members can show their support by pledging a specific canvasser or supporting the cause in general.
The Face to Face Campaign Kick-off Show, recorded earlier this month, will begin airing on Cogeco YourTV on August 19. Presented in two parts, the show features interviews with high-profile Windsor-Essex residents talking about the importance of hospice.
Last year, the campaign raised about $125,000. Over the last 21 years, Face to Face has brought in more than $1.6 million for hospice.
For many years, funds raised went solely to the Fairley Family Transportation Program, which helps provide hospice clients with rides to medical appointments.

In 2022, the campaign also started supporting the G.E.N.I.E. (Granting Exceptional N’ Impactful Experiences) Program, a new partnership between hospice and Essex-Windsor EMS.
G.E.N.I.E. gives patients receiving hospice care, whether in hospice residences or in their own homes, the chance to request special trips or outings.
“These rides would allow them to attend a family gathering, or visit a local park, or even visit their family home one last time,” according to campaign organizers.
