Promising to “supercharge Brisbane’s already booming events and conferencing industry”, The Star’s 35,000-square-metre event centre will be one of the first elements of the precinct to open next Thursday.
The Star said it would lead “a steady stream of new restaurants, bars, public spaces and destinations”, with more openings through September this year – two years after the original opening date.

Some venues would be immediately available from August 29, including several restaurants and the venue’s signature hotel, The Star Grand, alongside the event centre.
The 320-metre-long Neville Bonner Bridge, connecting Queen’s Wharf to South Bank, will also be available to the public immediately from next week’s opening.
Chief executive Daniel Finch said the precinct would “boost the region’s must-visit appeal ahead of the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games”.
“We have just seen recent data that shows that Brisbane has become Australia’s ‘bleisure’ capital with business visitors spending more time and money in our city compared to any other state,” he said.
The date for the next stage of openings, expected to include the development’s Dorsett and Rosewood hotel tower, is not yet known.
