Disney launched its own streaming platform in 2019. Since then, Disney+ has finally turned a profit and reached 118 million paid subscribers. But its still trying to catch up to streaming pioneer Netflix, which outgoing CEO Bob Iger called the industry’s “gold standard.” All the while, the platform has streamed dozens of original series like “The Mandalorian,” “WandaVision,” and “Andor” — all of which cost over $12 million per episode to produce.
