There is an an easy and peaceful solution to the flag situation at city hall. It is as follows: There should be four flagpoles. One would fly the Canadian flag. One would fly the Saskatchewan flag and one would fly the Regina city flag, according to protocol.
The fourth would be reserved (should the occasion arise), to fly the flag of an official representative visiting from another country. This would be done as a show of respect, regardless of the country. It would then be taken down immediately after the dignitary has left.

Flying the flags of special interest groups tends to create animosity, protest groups and even hatred. The world is not a happy place these days. Let’s not add to this divisiveness.
The three flags on publicly owned city hall would include and embrace all of us equally. For those who wish, they can always fly their preferred flags at their home, club or organization but not on publicly owned property.

Poor maintenance reveals city hall stupidity
Do others see the waste and stupidity presented by our city administration?
Two years ago, the city rebuilt the McCarthy Bridge. I have lived on McCarthy since 1997. They have rebuilt that bridge and repaired the nearby hockey rink’s roof three times each that I can remember. Shouldn’t these repairs last more than a few years?
Now, they are tearing up underground works and the sidewalk and the street just two years after completing the bridge work. They appear to be adding an enlarged sewer pipe connection point.
They did the exact same thing 30 metres north of this spot on McCarthy approximately two years ago. Again, can’t such repairs last more than a few years? I have seen sprinklers on at at 3 p.m.. on days of 33 C-plus. I’ve seen “scheduled” road repairs done in the middle of February at -35 C!

Recently, they resurfaced the softball diamonds at Saint Francis School. Why wasn’t that done back in April before the softball season? Who thinks this stuff up? Well, it’s our geniuses at city hall, whom we pay nearly half a million dollars a year to plan and manage our city services.
What about the state of our public parks? Apparently, we can’t afford to turn on the sprinklers to try and save the grass during this last heat wave. Look at the mess at Saskatchewan Drive and Lewvan Drive or at the girls softball fields on Ninth Avenue North. They are a disgrace
The mayor, most of the councillors and the majority of middle-management needs to be removed from their positions. I have had it with paying more and getting less.
