Continental Tire is recalling more than 147,000 tires in two recalls, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration release.
Continental is recalling 146,568 HDL2 DL+ tires, size 11R24.5 tires because the tire’s design may cause excessive heat buildup, resulting in belt separation. Belt separation can cause a sudden loss of tire air pressure and a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.
Dealers will replace the tires, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on Oct. 7. Owners may contact Continental customer service at 1-888-799-2168.
