Firefighters responded to a vegetation fire Saturday night on Table Rock, according to eyewitness accounts and first responder apps.
According to Pulse Point, an app connected to Ada County Emergency Dispatch, multiple engines responded to reports of a fire around 9:18 p.m. The incident location appeared to be along the Table Rock Trail near Table Rock Road, east of the Old Idaho Penitentiary.
Photos showed flames burning near the 60-foot illuminated cross at the top of the plateau.
At 10:11 p.m., Boise Fire Department said on social media that the fire was “contained and expected to be fully controlled shortly.”
Table Rock previously caught fire in June 2016 when a 19-year-old lit a Roman candle firework at the popular hangout. That fire burned 2,500 acres and destroyed a home.
