Ottawa police are maintaining a heavy presence at a bungalow in the east end after one person was found dead at the scene of a residential fire in the east end Tuesday evening.
Investigators wearing biohazard gear re-entered the home on Clarke Avenue at around 11:15 a.m.
“Last night at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers attended a residential fire in the 600 block of Clarke Ave,” police in a brief release Wednesday.

One person was located deceased at the scene, police said.
“All fires are treated as suspicious until deemed otherwise,” OPS said in a release.
“OPS works collaboratively with partners including the Ottawa Fire Service, the Office of the Fire Marshal and the Office of the Chief Coroner to determine cause.”
A heavy police presence remained at the scene Wednesday morning, and police entered the home in biohazard gear around 11:15 a.m.
Ottawa Fire Services were also called to the scene. However, spokesman Nick DeFazio said “there was no fire,” and OFS left the scene.
Ottawa Paramedic Service said it was also on the scene, but its services were not required.
