How would you react if there was a knock at your door, and it was for your pet?
Gurit Brecher Laro (@heartbrecher) shared a story about her dog’s thriving social life that has left the internet hooked and begging for more details.
In August 9 clip, Laro was sitting down with a towel on her head—presumably fresh out of the shower. She dove into what happened during the day, which left her confused, to say the least.
“My dog has a whole social life that I did not know about, and she just had a house call,” she said at the start of the video, which racked up over 420,000 views.
For two minutes, Laro spoke about her dog’s “secret” friendship with a young girl whom the owner had never met—until the girl showed up at her house.
Laro estimated that the girl who knocked on her door was around 6 years old. She then explained that the girl made a “beeline” for Judy, the rescue dog, entering Laro’s home.
“I’ve never seen this child in my life,” said Laro, who added that the child was alone. The kid then started to play with Judy, and Laro introduced herself, asking who the acquaintance was and how they met. However, the young girl didn’t speak much English, making it difficult to find out where her home was.
When asked “How do you know my dog?” the girl said, “A man” walks Judy, which initially raised alarm bells for the owner. But then she realized it was her retired dad. She then called her dad, who confirmed he knew the girl and offered to help find her home.
“Judy is delighted; she thinks everyone who shows up is there to see her, so for once, it was for real,” explained the owner in the video that has more than 36,000 likes.
While the owner was “confused,” as mentioned in the caption, it seems dogs broadening their friendship circles is more common than you might think.
One user said, “I feel like a celebrity when I’m at home and take my family dog on a walk; she knows EVERYONE.”
Another agreed: “When I walk my corgi Preston, I have cars roll down their windows and yell, ‘Yo Preston!!’… ummm idk [I don’t know] these people, but they know my dog.”
“My dog used to ride the school bus to and from the elementary school everyday and we had no idea for months until my mom came home from work early and saw him getting off the bus & all the kids waving,” said a third user.
