The New York Jets will enter the 2024 NFL season hoping for better results this time around than they saw in 2023. Just a few plays into their season, starting quarterback Aaron Rodgers went down with an Achilles injury, ending his year before it ever really got started.

Rodgers is back for the Jets this year and he will have multiple offensive weapons to work with. One of them is former first-round draft pick Mike Williams, who landed with the Jets this offseason after the Los Angeles Chargers cut him.
Williams is coming back from his own massive injury, tearing his ACL early in the year for the Chargers. But Jets head coach Robert Salah provided some massive news on the health of Williams on Thursday, saying that is is available to play for New York in their season opener.
Getting Williams back will be huge for the Jets as he can compliment the other wide receivers on the roster. New York has built up a nice receiving core of Garrett Wilson, Williams, and Allen Lazard, among others.
After practice, Williams spoke to the media and reiterated that he is ready to go for the Week 1 opener against the San Francisco 49ers.
“[I] feel good,” Williams said after practice. “I mean, this is what I expected. I was putting the work in this whole time to make myself available to perform this season, so it’s all paying off at the right time.”
Williams knows just how special playing with a Hall-of-Fame talent like Rodgers can be. He spoke about the potential of the Jets offensive attack with him now healthy and ready to play.
“It’s going to be crazy,” Williams said of the offense’s potential. “Aaron, he’s hitting all cylinders right now, him and [Garrett]. Everybody else is making a lot of plays against the defense that we have.”
The former Clemson product can spread the field for the Jets, giving them a downfield threat. He played in just three games for the Chargers last season but was productive nonetheless. Williams posted 19 catches for 249 yards and one touchdown before he suffered his injury.
In 2021, Williams posted 76 receptions for 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns. He has been one of the more productive players in the NFL over the last few seasons and the Jets landing him could be a steal.
New York has Super Bowl aspirations this season and Williams is looking to do his part in helping the franchise reach its goals.
