Kaos has just arrived on Netflix and fans have discovered the real importance of Zeus’ water as his life depends on it.
WARNING: THIS STORY CONTAINS SPOILERS
Kaos is finally on Netflix and the Greek mythology drama follows Zeus (played by Jeff Goldblum) and his struggle to maintain power over Earth. Once he noticed a wrinkle on his forehead, he believed it signified his imminent end.
His state of paranoia sent him on a destructive path and he risked wiping out all of humanity. Thankfully a handful of humans brought together by fate were able to figure out how to defy him.
At the start of the final episode, viewers were reminded of Riddy’s (Aurora Perrineau) prophecy – A line appears, the order wanes. The family falls and Kaos reigns.” Throughout the series it became clear that the ‘family’ referred to Zeus and the other gods.
In the final episode, Caneus (Misia Butler) confronted Medusa (Debi Mazar) about the Frame and the Nothing, as it transpired the Frame did not lead the dead to another life. Instead, it led mortals to the Nothing – a storage bank for the dead.
He begged Medusa for help after Riddy made it back to Earth with Orpheus (Killian Scott), where she admitted she no longer loved him. Back in the Underworld, Caneus ended up in the Nothing after being reunited with his mother who had previously turned him in.
Back on Mount Olympus, Zeus’ wife Hera (Janet McTeer) was trying to talk some sense into her husband when he called a family meeting. He handed out bottles of meander water, which he is seen drinking regularly throughout the series as he sees it as precious.
After Poseidon (Cliff Curtis) confessed his love for Hera, he was punished by having his meander water tipped out.
Once Riddy and Ari (Leila Farzad) had set the living free, and Caneus had done the same with the dead, Zeus started to lose his power and the water feature at Zeus’ home broke.
From here it became clear the meander water was keeping Zeus immortal.
In the cliffhanger ending, Zeus’ son Dionysus (Nabhaan Rizwan) was seen looking at his bottle of meander water before the screen turned black.
Elsewhere in the finale, Ari helped the Trojans rebuild Troy and work to destroy Olympus after killing her father over how he had treated her brother Glaucus (Fady Elsayed).
Prometheus (Stephen Dillane) was finally freed with the help of the Fates and he warned Zeus that “chaos is coming”.
If the series returns for a second season, it seems Zeus’ downfall will be just around the corner.
