- Disney Pixel RPG, GungHo Entertainment’s new upcoming licenced game, has unveiled a new trailer
- It shows off new auto-battling functions, AFK farming and more
- The trailer also demonstrates avatar customisation and a whole host of other features!
GungHo Entertainment’s hotly-anticipated, officially licenced game Disney Pixel RPG has unveiled a new trailer and key visuals ahead of launch. Currently in pre-registration, the game mixes AFK elements, RPG battles and even board game-themed world maps in an ecclectic mix that also features famous faces of Disney, like Mickey Mouse. It’s set to launch sometime this year for iOS and Android.
A brief glance at the trailer reveals more well-known Disney characters, like the Genie from Aladdin or Baymax from Big Hero 6. Given the wealth of films, television and more that Disney have produced over the years it’s no surprise that plumbing this catalogue of characters is seemingly every developer’s dream for unique allies and enemies.
The new trailer also shows off a variety of avatar customisation functions, as well as the requisite ability to farm while AFK or to let your characters do battle automatically. While it may not be pushing the boat out in terms of gameplay, Disney Pixel RPG certainly has the look down pat.
Totally automatic
I’ve never fully understood the appeal of auto-battler RPGs. To my mind, one of the key points of appeal for any RPG is being able to control where and what your characters are doing tactically. Auto-battlers tend to take away from that, but given how popular the genre is I must be missing something.
In any case, I’d be surprised if Disney Pixel RPG isn’t a success, given how lucrative Disney’s catalogue still very much is. Plus, letting people drop in their own avatars is a surefire recipe for success amongst those who want to do battle side-by-side with Mickey Mouse.
