Holger Rune took to social media to hit back at naysayers after exiting the US Open in the first round.
He was comfortably beaten by Brandon Nakashima, who got the job done in less than two hours.
Rune went on to issue a fiery response to his critics on X, formerly Twitter.
He wrote: “Sometimes the bumps on the road are painful and frustrating. But we all know there are no easy or fast ways to fulfil our dreams.
“Every experience is learning, that will make the foundation so strong that no one or nothing can break us in the end.
“I am not satisfied with my results, but still I have to remember I am 21. I am top 15 in the world, the highest ranked male ever in my country.
“So when media ‘experts’ and randoms call me s**t, I take it as a bizarre compliment.”
