Netflix has revealed that BTS‘s Jin will co-star in its upcoming K-variety show Kian’s Bizarre B&B with actor Ji Ye-eun.
The whole thing centers on Kian84 (Kim Hee-min), the popular cartoonist and entertainer best known for his webtoon Fashion King and for appearing in the beloved television series I Live Alone, aka Home Alone, which qualifies as one of the most authentic “Real Variety” shows in Korean entertainment.
Kian’s Bizarre B&B brings to the table—a refreshing break amid a natural paradise—complemented by Jin and Ji’s attractive presence. The setting for this creative project per Korean media is Korea’s Ulleung Island—famous for its beautiful, breathtaking landscape. Kian84 will be seen managing a special guesthouse there that offers its visitors an unforgettable stay.
Jin and Ji, who assume the roles of staff members charged with attending to the guests’ needs and introducing them to the distinct charm of the place, seemingly become the primary drivers behind this project. Jin’s engaging presence and concern for the guests’ satisfaction heighten, if anything, the emotional connection of the presentation, while also adding a significant surprise factor.
Kian’s Bizarre B&B, created by Jung Hyo-min, Lee So-min, and Hwang Yoon-seo, is, in what I think, a refuge that adds realism and intimacy to the viewer’s experience—a glimpse into what goes into creating, the artistic process, and all the challenges that come with curating such a distinct hospitality service while also engaging in the stories of the visitors.
In addition to Jin being a big draw for the program, its premise speaks to the increasing demand for real, meaningful travel experiences that go beyond the conventional tourist-focused approach. The Ulleung Island’s natural grandeur makes for an enthralling backdrop for the homestay experience.
The show’s inclusion of nature, coupled with the makers’ efforts in capturing a sustainable and immersive accommodation, is, for me as a viewer, an invitation to contemplate the importance of environmental preservation and the power of eco-tourism in fostering a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
Kian’s Bizarre B&B promises to be a memorable one with its mix of Ulleung Island’s picturesque surroundings, the individual appeals of Jin, Ji, the eponymous Kian84, and the very idea of a personalized homestay.
Kian’s Bizarre B&B has what it takes to push the envelope of regular variety shows in giving us a very entertaining and immersive viewing experience. The Netflix original is planned for release next year.
