National Law firm Sparke Helmore has promoted a lawyer from its commercial insurance practice to special counsel.
Stephanie Barclay, who has served at Sparke Helmore for over a decade and has been there for the entirety of her legal career, has been elevated as the firm’s newest special counsel.
Barclay joined the national law firm in 2012 before transitioning to the financial lines team in 2015.
Sparke Helmore outlined that Barclay is an “experienced litigator who specialises in professional indemnity claims, financial lines, D&O matters and class actions”.
The firm also revealed how Barclay “primarily acts for lawyers in defending claims made against them” and “defends other professionals in professional negligence matters and provides coverage advice to insurers”.
Barclay graduated from the University of New England with a bachelor of law and a bachelor of science (physiology) in 2013.
Sparke Helmore’s financial lines national practice group leader, Malcolm Cameron, conveyed his enthusiasm for Barclay’s promotion and highlighted that it reflects the dedication she has demonstrated throughout her tenure at Sparke Helmore.
“I’m proud to see the promotion of Stephanie to special counsel. She is an exceptionally talented lawyer, recognised as a leader in her field of law, and highly regarded by her clients. Stephanie’s promotion is testament to the hard work she has put in to reach this career milestone,” Cameron said.
