WWE superstar Kairi Sane suffered a legitimate eye injury on Raw while CM Punk was carried out on a stretcher during the show.
The so-called Pirate Princess suffered a nasty injury when she went face first into the announce table from a wild dive from the top rope, cutting around her eye with blood pouring out.
She suffered the injury during a bout pitting her and Iyo Sky against The Unholy Union for a shot at new tag team champions Bianca Belair and rising star Jade Cargill.
Kairi – who needed stitches after the show – shared a photo backstage after the match with dried blood on her face, captioning it with a simple thumbs up.
Her Damage CTRL partner Iyo Sky wrote on X: ‘I’m proud of my tag team partner. Bleeding was nothing to her. Kairi Sane is insanely tough!!!! #DamageCTRL will get golds again soon….!!!!’
And the duo’s former ally Asuka, who is out of action with an injury of her own, replied: ‘I’m glad you’re okay. Nice damage control…🤟!
Kairi – whose team lost the match – responded: ‘Big Sister Asuka…!!! I was really happy that you contacted me first to let me know that you were worried about me 😭✨ I did the damage control myself! 💪🏻 I miss you so much 🥹♡’
Meanwhile, CM Punk’s rivalry with Drew McIntyre looks set to continue even after he beat the Scottish Warrior in a physical Strap Match at Bash In Berlin over the weekend.
On Monday night, Punk came out looking to move on after months of dealing with the thorn in his side, and he repeated his desire to challenge GUNTHER for the World Heavyweight Championship.
However, McIntyre had other ideas, as he attacked his foe from behind, laying him out with several Claymore Kicks and taking the fight to him.
He even snapped his rival’s bracelet, which has become a focus of their storyline after it was made by a fan featuring the names of his dog Larry and wife AJ Lee.
Security and producers put a stop to the attack, and Punk was helped onto a stretcher to take him backstage.
He didn’t make it as far as the waiting ambulance, with McIntyre sending him crashing off the gurney with the months-long rivalry still heating up.
With WWE presenting the Bad Blood premium live event on October 5, it seems likely that will be the night the two could settled their differences once and for all.
And given the show’s history, a Hell In A Cell match would be befitting as a tribute to the first ever one between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker at Badd Blood: In Your House back in 1997.
WWE Raw airs Monday nights at 1am on TNT Sports 1.
