A settlement has been reached over the city of Elk Grove’s “unlawful denial of a proposed supportive housing project for lower-income households at risk of homelessness,” California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a statement Wednesday.
The project originally called for 66 studio apartments. It will now offer 80 one-bedroom apartments for lower-income households at the risk of homelessness.
As part of the settlement with the state, Elk Grove agreed to the state monitoring its future compliance with state housing law, identify an additional site for low-income housing development and pay the State $150,000 in attorneys’ fees and other costs, according to the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
