Google’s third iteration of the Pixel Watch is a winner, particularly the new, larger 45mm model which sports a 40% larger screen than its predecessor and offers up to 48 hours of battery life per charge (compared to just 24 hours for the 41mm Pixel Watch 3). Plus, you get loads of advanced insights into your sleep quality, wellness and workout training habits, including several handy new metrics borrowed from Fitbit Premium, like a daily Readiness score.

The Pixel Watch 3 is a fine-tuned improvement over the Pixel Watch 2 and a worthy upgrade from the first-generation Pixel Watch. The 45-mm version is gorgeous.

The Pixel Watch 3 is another step in the right direction for Google’s smartwatch. With its new running tools, workout intensity metrics and additional smart features, Google continues to fill in the gaps left by the previous models, resulting in a well-rounded smartwatch slightly skewed toward runners.

The 45mm variant steals the show this generation, but Google continues to iterate on the 41mm Pixel Watch 3 in meaningful ways. It’s an obvious upgrade for original Pixel Watch owners, while I think heavy app users on last year’s model will appreciate the slightly bigger display.

Google’s smartwatch platform has exponentially improved over the past few generations. You don’t need the Pixel Watch 3 to be a part of it, but there is something about using it in Google’s form. Mostly, the Pixel Watch 3 feels like an apt extension of what’s going on with the rest of Google’s Android form. It’s the perfect mini command center for accessing smart home and media controls or checking in on notifications.
